Shiva Mahimna - Stotra 1

॥ ॐ नमः शिवाय॥
|| om namaḥ śivāya ||

॥ अथ श्री शिवमहिम्नस्तोत्रम्‌॥
|| atha śrī śivamahimnastotram ||

महिम्नः पारं ते परमविदुषो यद्यसदृशी
स्तुतिर्ब्रह्मादीनामपि तदवसन्नास्त्वयि गिरः।
अथाऽवाच्यः सर्वः स्वमतिपरिमाणावधि गृणन्‌
ममाप्येष स्तोत्रे हर निरपवादः परिकरः॥ १॥

mahimnaḥ pāraṁ te paramaviduṣo yadyasadṛśī
stutirbrahmādīnāmapi tadavasannāstvayi giraḥ |
athā'vācyaḥ sarvaḥ svamatiparimāṇāvadhi gṛṇan
mamāpyeṣa stotre hara nirapavādaḥ parikaraḥ || 1||

If it is unseemly to praise You when ignorant of the extent of Your greatness, then even the praises of Brahma and others are inadequate. If no one can be blamed when they praise You according to their intellectual powers, then my attempt to compose a hymn cannot be reproached. (1)
